OBQ 1223: Empire strikes back (Chinese version)

Here is one of the many Chinese companies that is doing its own version of string of pearls strategy, by acquiring some marquee brands from gone by era and building a formidable portfolio to carve out a place for itself.

It feels like a Chinese version of Empire strikes back.
